This is an ambitious effort to stimulate dialogue which accelerates policy changes, driven by momentum from grassroots response to the global climate challenge. There are over 350 million hectares of degraded landscapes - worth US$9 trillion in ecosystem services - which need to be restored by 2030.

UN Decade for Ecosystem Restoration

The UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration unites the world behind a common goal: preventing, halting and reversing the degradation of ecosystems worldwide. Restoring damaged ecosystems is an efficient and cost-effective way people can work with nature to address the most pressing challenges humanity is facing today.

Adopt a Landscape .

By “adopting” a landscape you commit to help it towards restoration during the UN Decade of Ecosystems Restoration 2021 to 2030. We will connect you to a growing community of Landscape Mentors who are environmental experts and young environmental advocates whom we call the Landscape Guardians. We hope that this promotes intergenerational dialogue, which expands our knowledge base about different ecosystems, connects our shared passions and helps us envision the future we want.
