About NAWE

The Network of African Women Environmentalists (NAWE) is a 'Peer Empowerment Community' of African women, who have launched the Earth Science Cafes to stimulate engagement for ecosystems restoration.

About Earth Science Cafes

The Earth Science Cafes is a dynamic online discussion forum, launched on Earth Day, April 22nd, with an overall objective of 'Connecting Science to Society'

Who we are

This is an ambitious effort to stimulate dialogue which accelerates policy changes, driven by momentum from grassroots response to the global climate challenge. There are over 350 million hectares of degraded landscapes - worth US$9 trillion in ecosystem services - which need to be restored by 2030.

What We Do

We promote intergenerational and cross-sectoral dialogue about ecosystems restoration. We also support youth environmental advocates, by providing robust scientific data about particular landscapes, and connecting them to key experts and specialists

Engage

Join the Earth Science Cafes Network and help us in connecting science to society. We are supporting local landscape restoration initiatives, such as the ADOPT A LANDSCAPE campaign, to align local restoration efforts with national, international and global interventions for Agenda 2030.
